So this weekend was slightly unusual in that it wasn’t an engagement shoot or a wedding. Although they did play a smashing gig at my own wedding! I’ve been taking photos of a mates band, Hooch. Helping them capture some shots of them laying down some new tracks in the studio! It sounded like a perfect job, cool band, cool music in a cool studio what more could I ask for.
Cool band. Check
Cool music. Check.
Cool studio. Errrrr
When Simon told me the studio Hooch would be using was nothing special and if anything, a bit of dive, I thought he was joking, or at least trying to lower my hopes of Dr Dre levels of recording studio. As I drove the long way to Melksham to get to Avonside Studios. I imagined the photos I’d like to try and get and come up with some kind of battle plan for few hours I’d be with them!
When I arrived, the term ‘dive’ seemed somewhat of an understatement. Take the word ‘dive’ and replace it with the words ‘It should be demolished’ was probably more apped! It was a shock to the system in the same way I would imagine pissing on an electric fence would be a shock to the system. After the guys wished me luck making this place look good, my battle plan took a sharp detour and I reckon I nailed it – they look like proper rockstars! Hooch nailed it!
